Vascular Interventions

Vascular interventions are minimally invasive procedures used to diagnose and treat diseases of the blood vessels. These procedures are performed using advanced imaging guidance such as fluoroscopy, ultrasound, or CT scan. Interventional radiologists use small catheters, wires, and specialized devices to access the blood vessels and treat blockages, narrowing, or abnormal blood flow without the need for major surgery.

Compared to traditional surgical methods, vascular interventions offer several advantages including smaller incisions, reduced pain, faster recovery time, and shorter hospital stays. These procedures are highly effective in managing a wide range of vascular conditions affecting different parts of the body.

Treatments

  • Aorto-Iliac and Peripheral Vascular Angioplasty & Devices (PVAD): Used to treat narrowing or blockage in major arteries supplying blood to the legs and lower body. Angioplasty helps restore normal blood flow using balloons and stents.
  • Treatment for Varicose Veins and Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT): Minimally invasive techniques help treat swollen veins and blood clots in deep veins, reducing pain, swelling, and risk of complications.
  • AV Fistula Maintenance and Interventions: Procedures performed to maintain and restore proper functioning of arteriovenous fistulas used for dialysis in patients with kidney disease.
  • Liver Embolization: A targeted treatment used for primary and benign liver lesions where specific blood vessels supplying the lesion are blocked to control or shrink the tumor.

Gastrointestinal (GI) Interventions

  • Celiac Artery Stenting: Used to treat narrowing of the celiac artery which supplies blood to the stomach, liver, and other abdominal organs.
  • Superior Mesenteric Artery (SMA) Stenting: Helps restore proper blood flow to the intestines in cases where the artery becomes narrowed or blocked.
  • TIPS (Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt): A procedure used to treat complications of portal hypertension by creating a channel within the liver to improve blood flow.
  • PARTO Procedure: A specialized interventional technique used to treat gastric varices and complications related to portal hypertension.

Embolization Procedures

  • Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): Prostate Artery Embolization is performed to reduce the size of an enlarged prostate and relieve urinary symptoms.
  • Uterine Fibroids: Uterine Fibroid Embolization is a minimally invasive treatment that blocks blood supply to fibroids, helping shrink them and reduce symptoms such as heavy bleeding and pelvic pain.
